◆ Start here

Two ways to make a change

Both start in the same place — your Change Benefits screen. Pick the path that matches your situation.

🗓 Qualifying Life Event

Something big changed in your life

Use this when a real life event lets you add, drop, or change your coverage outside of open enrollment.

Use it for events like
Marriage / Domestic Partnership Birth or Adoption Divorce / Legal Separation Loss of Coverage Spouse Open Enrollment Change in Hours Leave of Absence Death of a Dependent Court Order Legal Guardianship
🔁 Midyear Change

Adjusting an account — no event needed

Use this for benefit types you're allowed to change any time of year, without a qualifying life event.

Use it for accounts like
HSA Parking Transit Adoption Assistance

You'll only see this option if at least one supported benefit is active and ready for enrollment.

Where to start

Everything runs through the same feature. From your Employee Navigator home, follow this path.

🗓 Path 1 · Qualifying Life Event

Submit a Life Event in 6 steps

For marriage, a new baby, a move, loss of coverage, and the other events listed above.

1

Go to your Employee Home

Log in to Employee Navigator, head to your Employee Home, then open Change Benefits.

2

Click "Submit a Life Event"

This starts a new qualifying-life-event request.

3

Select the event type

Choose the option that matches — marriage, birth/adoption, loss of coverage, and so on.

4

Enter the life event date

This is the date the event actually happened. Double-check it before moving on (see the note below).

5

Complete the enrollment changes

Add or remove dependents, switch plans, or update coverage as needed.

6

Submit the event

Review everything, then submit. You're done!

Get the date right the first time

The life event date can't be changed once the event is started. To fix a wrong date, the event has to be canceled and reprocessed from the beginning.

One event at a time

You can only have one active life event going at once. Finish or cancel the current one before starting another.

⏱ How far back can I go?

Backdating a life event

Life happens on its own schedule. Here's how far back you can date an event in the portal.

60 days back Max — with underwriter approval 30 days back Standard limit TODAY With underwriter approval Standard window
Standard: change up to  30 days  back
Up to  60 days  back — with underwriter approval

The most you can retroactively make a change on your own is 30 days. Anything between 30 and 60 days back may still be possible with underwriter approval — reach out to Waugh Agency and we'll see what we can do.

🔁 Path 2 · Midyear Change

Change an account in 5 steps

For HSA, Parking, Transit, and Adoption Assistance — no qualifying event required.

1

Go to your Employee Home

Log in to Employee Navigator and open Change Benefits.

2

Look for "Changes Allowed Any Time"

This section holds the accounts you can adjust without a life event.

3

Click "Update Plans"

Opens the accounts that are eligible for a midyear change.

4

Make the allowed changes

Adjust your contribution or election for the eligible account.

5

Save the update

Save your changes and you're all set.

Don't see this option?

You'll only see "Changes Allowed Any Time" if at least one supported benefit is active and ready for enrollment. If it's missing, you may not currently have an eligible account — check with Waugh Agency.

💬 Good to know

Quick answers

Which one do I need — a Life Event or a Midyear Change?
If something happened in your life (marriage, baby, divorce, lost coverage, etc.), use Submit a Life Event. If you just want to adjust an account like your HSA, Parking, Transit, or Adoption Assistance, use the Midyear Change path under "Changes Allowed Any Time."
I entered the wrong life event date — can I just edit it?
No. Once a life event is started, the date is locked. The event must be canceled and reprocessed with the correct date. That's why it's worth double-checking the date at step 4 before you continue.
How far back can I date a life event?
The most you can go back on your own is 30 days. Changes between 30 and 60 days back may still be possible with underwriter approval — contact Waugh Agency and we'll help.
Can I start a second life event before finishing the first?
No — only one active life event is allowed at a time. Complete or cancel the current one first.
Where do I log in?
Log in at employeenavigator.com. First time? Use the registration link in your welcome email to set up your account.

Stuck? We've got you.

Not sure which path fits your situation, or need to go back further than 30 days? The Waugh Agency team is happy to help you sort it out.
